2026: Time for Reflection, Accountability, and Change at Snug Harbor

As we step into 2026, we want to take a moment to reflect on the past year and look ahead with renewed hope, determination, and a shared vision for a better community. To all our fellow property owners, we wish you a Happy New Year—one filled with peace, prosperity, and a stronger sense of unity.

While 2025 presented its fair share of challenges, it also gave us the opportunity to pause, assess, and recognize the areas in which we, as a community, can grow. Now, as we enter a new year, we are determined to create positive change and ensure that Snug Harbor becomes the place we all envision—a place of transparency, effective leadership, and mutual respect.

Reflecting on the Past Year

The year gone by was not without its difficulties. From ongoing financial mismanagement to a lack of timely communication, Snug Harbor faced issues that affected the well-being of every property owner. The decisions made by the SHPOA Board of Governors have often seemed disconnected from the concerns and needs of the community, leaving many of us frustrated and seeking accountability.

But we, as the property owners, must be honest with ourselves: the challenges we face today are not simply the result of external forces—they are the outcome of decisions made (or not made) by those in leadership positions.

As we enter 2026, it’s time for the Board to look inward and take full responsibility for the actions that have led us to this point. We understand that leadership is not always easy, but it is essential that those in charge are accountable for their decisions. We hope the SHPOA Board will recognize the role their actions have played in creating the situation we find ourselves in and commit to making things right in the year ahead.

A Call for Accountability and Change

As property owners, we deserve more. We deserve a Board that listens, responds, and takes the necessary steps to resolve the ongoing issues in our community. The first step in this process is for the Board to conduct a thorough and transparent review of SHPOA finances. For far too long, we have been left in the dark about where our money is going. Mismanagement of funds has been a recurring issue, and it is imperative that we have a full understanding of how our contributions are being spent.

Transparency, clear communication, and responsible financial management are critical to restoring trust in the SHPOA Board. We believe this is not only a priority but a necessity if we are to move forward as a community. We also hope that the Board will take this opportunity to reflect on how they can better serve the property owners and make more informed, proactive decisions.

Embracing Technology for a Better Future

One area where we, as property owners, can immediately see improvement is in the SHPOA website. In this digital age, a functional, up-to-date, and user-friendly website is essential for effective communication. Unfortunately, the current state of the SHPOA website has left much to be desired. Outdated information, limited accessibility, and a lack of responsiveness have created barriers to engagement and have left many of us feeling disconnected from the decision-making process.

We urge the SHPOA Board to prioritize the appointment of a board member who is computer-literate and capable of managing the website effectively. A revamped, fully functional website should serve as a hub for all things related to Snug Harbor—from meeting minutes and community announcements to opportunities for property owners to provide feedback and engage in the decision-making process. The ability to communicate quickly and transparently is no longer a luxury—it’s a necessity.

A New Beginning: Hope for 2026

While the past year was filled with challenges, we firmly believe that 2026 holds the potential for change and renewal. This year offers us a fresh start—a chance to learn from the past, come together as a community, and work toward a more positive future for Snug Harbor.

The property owners of Snug Harbor are committed to making our community the best it can be, but for that to happen, we need a Board that is responsive, accountable, and open to change. We hope that 2026 will be the year that Snug Harbor turns a corner and begins to thrive once again.

We are calling on the SHPOA Board of Governors to take this opportunity to reflect on the past, be accountable for their actions, and make the necessary changes to ensure that 2026 is a year of growth, communication, and responsible leadership. Together, we can make Snug Harbor a place where everyone feels heard, valued, and respected.

Happy New Year, Snug Harbor! Here’s to new beginnings, brighter days ahead, and a future we can all be proud of.
